Canada 1997 jeep YJ 2.5L

I am thinking about buying a 1997 jeep TJ that has a 2.5l in it. There are three things that i am considering about upgrading:
-cold air intake
-throttle body spacer
-muffler

I want to improve my mpg, witch one of these is the best bang for your buck, and how would these work with each other, if you were to put more than one of these on your vehicle?
And what companies would your prefer?
please let me know about what these things have done to your jeep good or bad.
thx for your time and be sure to replie back!

I live in Alberta if you were wondering

hey, all three of those things work well together. as for what kind of intake, buy any brand of the high priced ones. not an 80.00 dollar one. the cost you should be around is 200.00-250.00 (i know it's expensive) but you get what you pay for. the throttle body spacer doesnt improve your mpg but will give you some more power. a good muffler will also give you better power and maybe a slight mpg increase. if you can find JP magazine from about 2 months ago they do a power adder comparison to all the different engines. and everything you are looking at is covered. good luck and shinny side up.

thanks for the feedback man!
I was also looking at a jet performance chip. It will probably be the best but its not too cheap and you will never make your money back.

Another topic was tires!
These are the brands/ tires I was looking at:
Pro comp All-terrain
BF Goodrich All-terrain
Super swamper All-terrain

Witch ones would you prefer?
I want tires that would do good in deep snow, are quiet on road and won't slip around a lot on ice!

Thank again for the reply and and feel free to replay again!

As for tires, if you want quiet on road and good in snow, and good on ice. I would recommend the BF Goodrich. If you can find Cavalier Tires in your area they are really good and much cheaper. I run their 31/10.5 M/S it does hum a LITTLE on the highway but are really good in snow. Not a great ice tire, maybe a smaller size would be better. Good Luck

Glad to see some people thinking about saving gas these days , considering the price of it today.

There are other small things you can do to help mileage , like tire pressure and such. For the tires i wouldn't get anything that is to treddy because its harder for them to roll , but then again you want something with good traction , i think all terrain would work good.

Ya the all-terrain tires seem to be the best for all scenarios.
The price of gas is $1.23.9 @!@##$$&^*(&*%

Hello, I am getting about 25 MPG Highway in a 2001 TJ with 31 inch tires with hard top and 4 litre. If you live in a fairly dry environment the soft top is fine, but in wetter climates or areas that get alot of snow you may want the hard top. I have both in Whistler and use the soft top in the summer only

A hard top would be more practicle with the weather alberta gets!

25mpg is good considering the 4.0L.

I am running Cavalier sport kings 31/ 10.5. They hum a little on the highway but not bad. Really good all-round tire. There isn't a lot of mud around Whistler, wouldn't be a great mud tire. Great value
