I was thinking the idler pulley, but your alternator could have been
slipping before so the battery was low and it had a hard time charging it back up. When the alternator is under full load trying to charge up a low battery, it can slip under the belt if the belt is bad or not quite tight enough. The alternator takes a few horsepower to spin up under load. I would take your alternator pulley when the engine was cold and off and see if I could make the pulley turn by hand under the belt. If I can make the pulley turn, then the belt isn't tight enough still and it will slip and squeal under load. It is not uncommon to have a new belt not tight enough... Have you checked to see if there are any rocks or mud in between the brake
disk and the dust sheild?
