WJ Speed Limiter
My S.O. has a WJ Limited with the 235 (or so) HP V8 in it... Chrysler had
the never to put a speed limiter on the damn thing... At 115 mph, it cuts the gas until you have slowed down a few mph and then lets you have the gas back... Up until the gas is pulled, it is still accelerating acceptably, so I want to get rid of this speed limiter (she doesn't notice the limiter since she rarely drives above 90)... How would one go about doing this? Easy or a pain in the ass? |

Re: WJ Speed Limiter
Why do you need to exceed 115mph???
And where??? That should make it quite a bit more stable. ;o) Earle |

Wow, 115 mph in a Grand Cherokee even with good aftermarket shocks and tires and even lowered an inch or so has got to be in the same category as playing marbles with sidewinders. I ain't no speed Nazi, but there is a tiny difference between the GC and a Corvette safety wise. |

Somebody has to star in those amazing crash videos....

Re: WJ Speed Limiter
Hi Jim,
I don't believe he's really going for top speed, It's more like he want to move the transmission shift points up to the max horse power curve, maybe burn rubber at the 2-3 shift at six grand, seventy five miles an hour. > Why do you need to exceed 115mph??? Need? Probably not... Want? Definitely... I think the main thing is that I don't like running into artificial limits imposed upon me to protect me from myself... At 115, the WJ handles acceptably... Not much in the way of wind noise either... My XJ will make you deaf at 85 thanks to all the nice sharp corners on it -- the aerodynamics of a brick... My XJ goes offroad, her WJ stays on pavement most of the time and the few times it does go offroad, it is in areas without trees so that she doesn't get her car scratched up... My XJ on the other hand has kind of gotten to the point of being like an old pair of sneakers -- not the greatest looking, but comfortable... > And where??? Texas... |

The most I could ever get out of my Porsche was 164... The most I could get out of my RX-7 was 134... My XJ can do around 100 with a good wind behind it (speedo only goes to 85, but the GPS goes a lot faster)... |
