wind noise '97 tj
My son's '97 tj just started having a lot of wind noise on the passenger's
side. It sounds like its coming somewhere from where the top (steelhorse,
which is probably the problem...) seals against the windshield frame. I
can't find anywhere at all that there doesn't seem to be a tight fit....no
water leaks either when it rains, just wind noise starting around 40 mph and
above. Has anyone had something like this before? Very minor issue I know,
just aggravating that I can't find it.
thanks, cal

Start taping the area with duct tape a little at a time and then go
for a drive. When the noise goes away you have pinpointed the spot.
You can then either leave the tape on ;) or remove the top and try
to correct the leak..

Does he have full hard doors? I use to have to roll down my windows of my
full steel doors and sorta bend the top part of the door back a bit to make
it form a tight seal. The guy I bought that YJ from told me that was
something that he always did - I don't know how common it is to need to do
that on TJ's though. I don't know if I had to do that because that's what
the previous owner(s) did... but it's something to consider.
