****** Pickup
I am looking at buying a ****** Pickup. I am ready to buy, however I
was hoping I could get some advice on what price I should expect to
pay. I want to be able to deal with confidence. For example, if a
guy is asking $4000 for a truck, how could I tell if it is really only
worth $2500?
I guess what I am asking is what should I expect from a truck that is
worth $1000, $2000, $4000, $6000, etc...

Re: ****** Pickup
Rather than picking a number out of thin air (blue book), research the
vehicle in something like the auto/truck trader, and see what similar
vehicles are actually selling for. I usually check a range of 3 years, and
throw out the top ten as greedy dealers, then base the price of the vehicle
on condition, within the price range of what's out there.

Re: ****** Pickup
Hi Brian,
You have to ask yourself what's it worth to you. To the sellers on
EBay it's worth eight thousand:

Re: ****** Pickup
I purchased my '62 pickup (mostly original, barely running and in fair
condition) for $900. My parts truck (rough botched up conversion) was $75.
You can book out a ****** pickup on the NADA site under "Classic Cars".
Here's the link: http://www.nadaguides.com/ Ultimately, supply and demand
and what you're willing to pay will determine price.
Decide what you want to do with the truck. Do you want a faithfully
restored original? If so, buy one that's all original with the best body
you can find. If you're planning a repower/conversion, either look for a
truck that's rough (like mine) or one that's already been modified. When
you look at a truck, inspect it carefully. If you're unsure of what to look
for, have a mechanic check it out for you.
If you're not already active on it, I highly recommend the ****** Tech
list/website: http://mvpimages.net/******/show.htm
Here are some photos of my '62 pickup:

Have fun and welcome to the wonderful world of ******!
