What's enough LIFT for 33s?
I *hope* to be the new owner of an 83 CJ7. He as 1 1/2 inch of body lift and
"said" he ran 36s on it with no rubbing!!!! I find that hard to believe
but..... Has anyone run just 1 1/2 body lift and no suspension lift and
sucessfully had 33s on?

Re: What's enough LIFT for 33s?
I run an inch of body lift, and 2.5 inches of spring lift, and 32s that rub.
I can't imagine how anybody could run 36s without rubbing on stock springs,
unless the springs were strapped to the top of the axles instead of the
bottom.

Re: What's enough LIFT for 33s?
Stock you can run 31's.
33's are only 1" taller....
Don't see why not...
I have a 3" spring lift and my 'glass tub sits an inch higher than stock
and I have tons of room for 33's.

Re: What's enough LIFT for 33s?
On my YJ, I have a 2.5" suspension lift and a 1" Body Lift with hockey
pucks. 3.5" of total lift is just about right for 33" tires. I also
bought new 1" longer bump stops to prevent the tire from wreaking
havoc in my fender wells off-road. You might be able to run 33" tires
with only 1.5" of lift, but you will not be able to off-road in your
Jeep without possibly damaging the body. If the Jeep had a SOA (spring
over axle) conversion, you would know it for sure because it adds
about 5" of lift. I recommend adding a 2.5" suspension lift before
you get the 33's.

Re: What's enough LIFT for 33s?
I'd recommend installing a little taller springs, maybe 2 1/2 inches before
going to the 33" tires. You may be able to fit them on the Jeep now but you
will have no articulation and they will definately rub the fender wells.
I've got a 2" body lift and 2 1/2 " spring lift with 33" tires and they fit
very nicely on my CJ5.
