Most of the information he has provided since I have been here has been
links to other people's sites.

Furthermore, if he doesn't know about a particular vehicle, he just says
"That's not a real Jeep" and dismisses it.

He's certainly not to Jeeps what Bill S. is to Mustangs and big blocks
that's for DAMN sure.

"That's not a real Jeep" and dismisses it.

heh......thats your newbie coming out. when i first came into this
newsgroup i announced my shiny new 2000 tj sahara and bill told me that it
wasnt a "real" jeep. at first i was taken back....maybe offended a
little.....but i later grew to appreciate bills conviction to jeeping.
bottom line......right or wrong if it werent for the old school jeep purists
like bill, i dont think your rubicon would even exist. folks just like bill
(including bill!) built the jeep legacy that we all enjoy today. todays
jeepers (er, the offroading ones anyway) continue the legacy that the
old-schoolers built. you dont maintain a legacy by shitting on the
founders.

i dont think youve the knowledge or experience with jeeping yet to make that
determination. if you stick with jeeping, sooner or later youll run into a
problem that bill will be the one to solve for you.

knowing enough about a subject to know from memory where to go to find it
and most importantly, THE WILLINGNESS TO TAKE THE TIME TO DO SO IN ORDER TO
HELP OTHERS is what makes bill a true asset to this newsgroup. besides,
linking to a page already scripted that reaches the same conclusion he
reached only makes sense.

heh......i dont have bill on a pedestal kate.....but in the 7 years ive been
reading this newsgroup ive grown to respect him. there is no club here.
you have givers, takers, lurkers, and entertainers. bill is both a giver
and an entertainer. even when i have no interest in a topic i always click
on his messages because one of two things will happen when i do.....ill
either learn something new or ill laugh at his comments. i am not
threatened by his experience, i recognize/respect it and i try to learn from
it.
