Have you had your Jeep out to play in the water? If the rear axle or
pinion seals are weak, you can easily get water into the diff if you
stop in a deep puddle of water. That can cause your symptoms.

Have you had your Jeep out to play in the water? If the rear axle or
pinion seals are weak, you can easily get water into the diff if you
stop in a deep puddle of water. That can cause your symptoms.

The quick lube places, and lots of "reputable" shops too, fill gear lube
with a motor-driven pump. It is real easy to get too much in, because the
fill hole is the same as the level hole. You don't see the fluid flowing
back out, until you have put a quart extra in. Imagine molasses under
pressure. Of course, the "technician" is supposed to account for this when
he is pumping it in there.

Hi Mike. Nope no water yet unless you count playing in a foot of snow
any measure of water! I just went to the garage to check the level. It
is almost full. The plug probably could use replacing. It is dry and
has a few cracks around the edges, but other than that it still spits
from the vent tube and I don't know why. It is very baffling!! Thanks
