I was told that not all 2000 model TJ's had the NV3550... is that correct,
and how do you tell?

Your Build Sheet might be the best way in this weather, you won't have to
crawl underneath in the snow. It will list what all was installed on your
Jeep from the factory.
You can get one at no charge from your local Jeep dealership PARTS
department or by e-mail (customer assistance) from the Jeep website. You
will need the vehicle VIN number
