Transfer Case skid plate
I removed my transfer case skid plate (?) the other day and have a quick
question... There are three bolts on either side, two bolts that attach to the transfer case in the middle(ish) and a third bolt near the middle two. The third "bolt" has some rubber bushings on it. Before I took this apart, it was loose. When I put it back together, it was still loose. How do I put this back together to tighten it up? What does it do? Does anyone have a blowup picture of this (Bill)? |

It's there to reduce the amount of "twist" the transmission/engine/transfer can have when you accelerate. -If- you feel you need to tighten it up, you can drop the skid plate and put some grade 8 washers between the bolt and the transfer case. I did this in an attempt to reduce the twist I was having when I put on the fuel inject kit (causing the clutch to tighten up). Didn't help a whole lot - maybe I need more washers. -- Michael White "To protect people from the effects of folly is to fill the world with fools." -Herbert Spencer, 1891 |

The stabilizer mount bushing is meant to be a little loose, the
strut shaft (26) is only threaded to a point just to snug the bushings (27) down: http://www.thejeep.com/onlinecatalog/p134.htm God Bless America, ßill O|||||||O mailto:-------------------- http://www.----------.com/ Joe wrote: > > I removed my transfer case skid plate (?) the other day and have a quick > question... Mine isn't even close to snug. I'll check out the pic. and see if I'm
missing anything. "L.W.
