TJ Heater controller
Well of course it is winter, and my heater in my 2002 TJ (no AC) is
acting up. The fan works on all the settings but it seems to be stuck
on Defrost. If I change the control to blow on the feet etc is is
always blowing from the defrost. Is there a quick fix for this? I am
dreading that it is the control unit $$. The *** is not broken since
it turns back and forth and stops in the upper and lower positions.

Likely you just lost vacuum.
There is a check valve near the back of the intake manifold.
The line sometimes pops off or cracks.

Re: TJ Heater controller
I would be really hoping it was a loose vacuum line. I am not sure
where the TJ pulls it's vacuum from, but check the back corner of the
intake manifold for a loose or cracked vacuum line.
Can you hear any hissing from under the dash? I 'think' there is a line
up there you can in theory kick off.
The defective blend air doors is on JK's I think. This would be a
recall except it fails to defrost so it can be classed as not a safety
issue so it is just a cool $1000.00 labour rip off.
If it is the blend door, stop by for a visit and we can tear it apart in
the driveway over a day or weekend. I have air tools now and a couple
extra couches.
