Tire Size and Speedo Reading
Please help me settle a "discussion" my neighbor and I are having. As
most of you already know, the stock tires on my 2003 TJ Sport are
Goodyear GSA (I know, it stands for "Get Stuck Anywhere") 30x9.5/15.
As soon as I can justify new tires, (wifey has issues) I will be
putting on 31x10.5/15, probably MT/R's or the like. Here is the topic
of "discussion"... I say the speedo will read less than the actual
speed I'm travelling with the larger tires and my neighbor says the
speedo will read more than than the actual speed. Can someone please
chime in here? Thanks. John

Re: Tire Size and Speedo Reading
I have 33s on my CJ and I never changed my trans cog so I comp my
speedometer by about 10 miles per hour up. The bigger tire rolls further
per rev so your speed shows slower.
