i had the same problem on my '00 tj. i removed the tail gate and knocked
the pins out of the hinges, found the pins rusted. i wsed some emery cloth
to remove the rust. then coated them with some never-seize, put them back
together and reinstalled them on the tj. i now hav a free operating
tailgate
