Re: STUPID QUESTION
I don't leave anything in my jeep that I can't afford to lose. Things like
my high-lift jack I bolt down so they are not easy and quick to remove but I
still don't mind getting them out if I need them. I also carry an old
scissor style jack ( because I don't trust a high-lift for changing tires )
that could be taken, but who would want to steal that? Now and then I will
"hide" things like a poncho under the rear seat but once again nothing I can
afford to lose. I don't even have a stereo or speakers.

I didn't realize some YJ's didn't come with locks. What year were locks
introduced on the full doors of YJ's?

the curb in front of my house. My TJ ends up being rummaged through
(console, glove box, door left open, etc) maybe 3 times a year on
average it seems. Not sure how many of those times the idiot(s) would
have damaged the soft top to gain access had they found the doors
locked, but I'm not taking that chance. Then again, I'm not sure how
many of those 3 times per year could be avoided if they found a locked
door and simply moved on. It's a Catch 22, damned if you do, damned if
you don't I guess. :)

I never lock my doors when my soft top is on. Try not to leave anything
valuable in the Jeep with the soft top on.
I do lock my doors when my hardtop is on for the winter.
