stuck with highbacks
i went to swap out my seats today only to find that the rear mounts are
_totally_ different. we didnt bother trying to swap the fronts since we
couldnt swap the rears but did notice that the electrical connector on the
drivers seat is also different from '02 to '03.
<sigh>.....i suppose at this point my only option is to wait on the
aftermarket to offer a "normal" jeep seat for the '03 unless anybody knows
of one already being sold?
thanks,

Re: stuck with highbacks
You may be closer than you think to a solution. Several years ago I saw an
article in JP where they took the original style TJ seats apart and reworked
the metal frame to be a little more comfortable then re-covered them. You
possibly could start with your passenger seat, take off the upholstery and
padding, and rework the metal frame yourself. Then have an auto upholstery
place re-cover them for you. I recall them mainly using a cutting wheel,
welder, and grinder to rework the frames in that article. This might end up
being cheaper than waiting around to buy aftermarket seats when and if they
become available.
I personally like the new high-backs in my '04 and the increased rearward
travel they have compared to the '97s to '02s. However I am 6'4".
Good luck,
