Mine Bestop trail cover works very well, and keeps out all the rain - no
snaps, and easy to use. On thing I do is carry a yard stick and coffee cup.
I put the trail cover on and if it's going to rain hard, I put the coffee
cup on top of the yardstick to hold the trail cover up so the rain runs off.
I put the bottom end of the yardstick in my cup holder. The coffee cup
keeps the yardstick from punching through the top. Rain will make a very
heavy puddle on top of the trail cover, and it will stretch the straps
pretty good, although mine have never broken (my cover is four years old).

If your bottom door halves are off, it still keeps most everything dry.

I use the cover more for dust and bird droppings than for rain. Also for
keeping the sun from fading the interior.

I live in North Texas, and it can rain very hard here, and the wind can blow
in at 70Mph. Wind has not been a problem, but the elastic straps on my
cover do show some strain!

Also, if you have something in your dash that shorts out, just remove it and
throw it away - it shouldn't be in your Jeep. I've gotten a lot of water on
my dash over the years in my three different TJs and never had any problems.

Carpet does smell though - be sure it gets a chance to dry. I spray some
very diluted ammonia under the carpets when they get wet.

I have one like that. It straps down. They are GREAT. I had one on
during a hurricane and a tornado (the Tornado touched down 5 miles away
but it was still windy).

two more cents... I got mine here: http://www.jeepcovers.com/ The
website completely sucks but the top is awesome. I've heard bad things
about the quadratec one (on this newsgroup) and good things about the
raingear...
