Steering dampener bleeding/leaking
Hey guys, had my jeep in to get the fluids changed and the tech commented
that the front steering dampener was leaking.
Bill, I know you've posted a nice picture with some labels on the front
steering assembley and such...could repost! thanks!
Anyhow, was wondering how hard it is to replace....I imagine not too
hard..but any special tools needed?!
Do I need ot lift the front-end to change? what's easier?!
Oh, and if I'm changing that....anything else I should change with it....
thanks
that the front steering dampener was leaking.

Hi Steve,
The bolt is on a taper, so put something heavy to hold the tie rod
as you beat the living heck out of it:

you have larger tires you may want to double shock it:

Don't need a lift but you should get the proper tool.
AutoZone and others will rent you one. They look like this.
http://www.thetoolwarehouse.net/shop/KD-2289.html
but are a bit smaller for pressing out that stud.
Remember to spray some PB blaster on the stud a few hours
before you go to remove it.

Re: Steering dampener bleeding/leaking
Thanks Bill....
on that page his old shock had a sheath on it...but the new one doesn't. I
assume this is added protection to keep crap off the seal....is it really
not needed?
I'm all stock...so I won't be redoing anything (that's next tax year!
haha)...
Is there an upgrade to the OEM dampener? Or is stock good enough!
