Squeeling TJ

2003 TJ Sport
I have an intermittent squeel....
it disappears on acceleration or when stopped..
sounds almost like a belt but isn't...
disappears whenever a mechanic gets in her or service manager....
it's annoying as hell... gets really loud at times...and the dealer says
they can't fix something they don't hear....GRRRRRRR
Jeff

My 03 Sport needed a water pump at less than 2K miles. Squeal was not constant
either. I was sure it was the belt, wrong, new pump cured it.

Re: Squeeling TJ

Jeff,
The squeal was there at idle too, but much harder to hear. Soon as I brought up
the rpms it got loud. I was stunned that the water pump would quit on a brand
new Jeep, did not seem to phase the dealer and it was warranty work. Doesn't
say much for quality, but I still love the Jeep.

I had my brake booster go with only 700km's on her. Lucky for me I was in a
traffic jam and was barely moving!

They said I still had manual brakes...but for the life of me I couldn't stop
without using the emergency brake. The RPM's would drift up by just
pressing the brake peddle. Warrantee covered a new brake booster...

Growing pains I guess

Mine did the same but occasionally it did it at idle, the dealer
replace the powersteering pump, belt tensioner, idler pulley, viscous
fan assembly and then finally the water pump which cured it. Luckily
it was all done under warranty. At least everything on the front of
the engine is now new with the exception of the alternator :)

well ...I got it back from the dealer.... no Mr. Service Manager it's not
due to MUD in the brakes, we already took them apart blew the crap outta
them and put them back to find the squeel still there.....he was nice enough
to grease the CV joint like I asked though, that's where I think it's coming
from.... it hasn't squeeled YET...
