2003 TJ Sport
I have an intermittent squeel....
it disappears on acceleration or when stopped..
sounds almost like a belt but isn't...
disappears whenever a mechanic gets in her or service manager....
it's annoying as hell... gets really loud at times...and the dealer says
they can't fix something they don't hear....GRRRRRRR

My 03 Sport needed a water pump at less than 2K miles. Squeal was not constant
either. I was sure it was the belt, wrong, new pump cured it.

believe it or not ....that's what my wife said...LOL
but if was water pump...it would squeel during idle too, wouldn't it??

but if was water pump...it would squeel during idle too, wouldn't it??

Jeff,
The squeal was there at idle too, but much harder to hear. Soon as I brought up
the rpms it got loud. I was stunned that the water pump would quit on a brand
new Jeep, did not seem to phase the dealer and it was warranty work. Doesn't
say much for quality, but I still love the Jeep.
