Speedo gear, which one?

Re: Speedo gear, which one?
Bill, thanks for that. It does say that I can buy the long shaft 27-tooth
one and then pull the short shaft out of my existing one and transplant it
on the new one to make it a 27-tooth short shaft one. The only thing is
that this was the only site where it suggests a 26-tooth gear for 32 inch
tyres. Everybody else suggests a 27-tooth gear for both 31 and 32 inch
tyres.

Re: Speedo gear, which one?
Mike, thanks. I don't have a GPS, yet. But I have actually timed myself
against mile markers on the motorway (or should that be a kilometer marker,
we are metric in NZ!). I did five kilometers in exactly three minutes,
which gives me a physical speed of 100 kms/hour. My speedo, however, was
saying I was doing 90 kms/hour all along. My circumference on the tyres
has increased by about 10 percent, so the difference in the actual versus
indicated speed seems to be maintaining a similar relationship.

A measured 'mile' is a good way to check it for sure. They are just
hard to find in most places.
