Source for tie down anchors
2000 Grand Cherokee
Any one have a source for more robust tie down anchors to replace the
plastic rear factory tie down anchors?
I have to carry a small handtruck (strapped down) from time to time, and
want something more substantial than the original plastic anchors which
are in turn retained by small screws and small plastic anchors.
None of the usual jeep vendors appear to have anything.
The only thing(s) found thus far are 2" to 4" flush mount "D or O" rings
for use in cargo trailers.

Your not going to find any easy solutions. In the 93 they are metal but
still tear out. (yep) heh. :(
Flush mouting d rings would probably be the best idea but your going to
have to cut metal and watch where the fuel tank is. There might be enough
space taken up by the carpet that using some 1/8 - 1/4 pressboard would
stand them off enough so you only had to bolt them in. Either way use
some large washers or a backing plate, the body metal isn't that thick

What about footman loops like they use in the 'wranglers' or CJ's?
They bolt down solid and have a pretty low profile.
