Re: Sorry

>>Fact is, I didn't see or read any "charter" and found this string of
messages by accident months >>ago after goofing around on google

You posted the original message...... it wasn't a respone to any of us
talking about it! You should have just said sorry and gone away. Now
everyone knows you are nothing but a liar. If you had just come on the
newsgroup and asked how to post the information you would have saved
yourself a lot of grief. Most of us ARE interested in new products, but
this newsgroup does have a charter that people expect to be honored.

What you should have said (instead of pretending to be interested in buying
one!):

Subject: New Jeep Top

Hey everyone, I am new to this group and would like to post information
about a new top I have designed for Jeeps. Is this OK and what is the
procedure?

Your name
www.blahblah.com

This probably would have been OK, plus with the address in your signature
people could have taken it upon themselves to check out your site. Some may
have sent you the charter, but you wouldn't have been called out as a liar
and a spammer.

Re: Sorry

I welcome new posters, but you are ignorant of the USENET in general and
you are plain wrong. You are also wrong in suggesting that he continue
to post commercially here after being informed of the charter.

I suggest you and Alan, if you ARE two different people, start your own
NG where you can make up your own charter. You are both welcome to post
non-commercially here, but if it were to continue, someone will forward
it to abuse and possibly have the poster's ISP priviledges revoked.
Nobody wants that, but it's a black and white issue, not a matter of
what your "feelings" are.

Discussions of new products are done everyday here and are more than
welcome. We all love to hear about new products for Jeeps. However,
lightly veiled or blatant commercial postings are not allowed. Deal with
it or move on. I hope you decide to stay.

Re: Sorry

If there was a discussion going on where somebody was asking about where to
get a new top, and you chimed in with, "I make a really cool top. Go to
www.reallycooltops.com and check them out." That would have been fine. It
looked like you were soliciting sales by your original post.

Thanks for your understanding. I happen to think you might have a huge
market here for your product, all you need to do is take part in the
discussions about tops. We do have a charter that prohibits commercial
posts, those are posts that blatantly attempt to sell stuff.

By way of example, many of us talk about a guy that makes onboard air
compressor systems. The maker actually comes around here on occasion and
talks about his stuff, but only in the context of answering questions about
what it does.

For my contribution, I think that you should not have been bombarded with
emails. It is sufficient to simply post that commercials are not allowed
here.

Good luck with your new top ...

two points here.

1. Alan's posts were not offensive, chronic or off topic. They did not
=
bother me nor apparently quite a few other people. They must have found
=
it informative enough to inquire further ?

What pissed me off enough to comment, were the replies Alan received. =
Both of his posts were followed up by nothing more than childish, =
immature, useless sh!t There was one rude comment followed by another.
=
Then, like a bunch of lemmings, the rest of the 7 to 12 who think they =
are the "brotherhood of RAMJW" no more than a social, internet "clique"
=
followed in to bash him. Is this the way you all intend to uphold this
=
so called "charter" ? by using the mamblings of 3 year olds ? This =
hasn't happened to just Alan's posts.. but every post in here that seems
=
to ruffle the feathers of the Ignorant Dozen.

There wasn't one mature reply to neither of his posts. If one could have
=
written in a kindly manner, stating this group was only for discussion =
then I might be able to understand. That fact was stated but so rudely.
=
Someone could have pointed him to the charter, wherever available =
online, so he could read this crap for himself.

2. forbidden ? that sounds rather rude!. das foridden !! Is this all =
mighty "charter" THAT TIGHT-ASSED as to not let someone post about a new
=
Jeep product ? That is not spamming. That charter needs to be revised =
and all that hold it's words so tightly up their asses, needs to pull it
=
out and lighten up. I don't give two rats asses who came up with these
=
initial words to get this group carried acrossed the net. Once it is =
made available to the public it isn't the property of any one person =
anymore but rather the group. I would bet most anyone would like to =
hear about new products. That is part of discussion. if you all =
simply must follow this charter to the letter, then get ~everyone's~ =
opinion in on revising it. Limiting China to the western world only =
retarded its growth for centuries. =20

Reading the "opinions" and "appropriate content" of only the "Ignorant =
Dozen" limits this group as well.

I'm not saying all this to bash anyone in this group. Everyone =
contributes highly and I respect the advice given by the senior Jeepers
=
here but jesus, acting the way some of you do and showing others the way
=
"Jeepers" act only makes me (and probably) others not want to be =
associated with that way of thinking. .. and don't worry, I am not =
threatening to go away because I don't like the attitudes of a few lame
=
asses.
