The brown wire goes into pin 1 and the red in pin 2.

On mine pin 2 is the one farthest away from the main power line.

Hi Mike,
Your directions are for Delco alternator, regulator self-contained
which are marked 1 and 2. I just thought I throw out there that Jim
wrote A and B which may really be R and F where the field would be
further away from the battery connection.
