Snow day carnage

AMC 20 owners, weld your tubes! I just learned the hard way that spun tubes
are no fun. I was out playing in the rare SC snow and thought it would be
fun to catch 2nd gear and sling the rear end around. Instead, I slung the
rear drive shaft around. The pumpkin let go of the tubes, aiming the pinion
skyward, breaking the pinion yoke, which subsequently let go of the back end
of the drive shaft. Luckily, after some quick U-bolt removal, the
Magnificent 7 took me home in front wheel drive without a wimper. I have
read in this new group several times about the need to weld the tubes,
especially with bigger tires (35") and a locker (ARB) and more HP (AMC 360)
and a heavy foot (me) and a playful relationship with my Jeep (me again). I
fully intended to do it one day. I just didn't intend for that day to be the
result of snow day carnage.
