Still, you could ask the dealer.
Are you sure there's nothing inside jamming it? If you have kids, it's a
sure bet they'll try to shove a coin in there at least once.

Our 88's just stopped too. I can get it to latch if I bend it forward
or aim it forward is better. Tipped up and it will not latch.
If you find a recall, I am interested otherwise a friend gave me a
replacement I have to go install. They were at the local u-pull and
grabbed one for me knowing I needed it.

free, found a used replacement at auto recycling yard for about $15. Just
make sure to get the right one, they seemed to change a bit from year to
year (shape of the whole in the receiver/latch).
