Scrambler opinions ?
OK everybody has seen the spy photos. Apparently D-C will keep the
Toledo line at full song with a revival of the old Scrambler (may not
be called that) from the AMC days.
Two seats with a removable hardtop/cab. Aftermarket soft tops similar
to the "bikini tops". Bed is a "real" truck bed with a hard front
just behing the seat. Two lengths. 100% interchangable with Wrangler
in mechanics and in body pannels back to the start of the bed. Lux
version has a wood lined bed.
Opinions?

Re: Scrambler opinions ?
There was at least one "Brute" running around at Moab last April and it
knocked our socks off. I was hoping the DC version would be similar but it
seems it will be quite a bit different.
I read somewhere the proposed Scrambler wheelbase is going to be stretched
like the original, but the bed is only only 48". The one photo that keeps
making the rounds looks kind of odd to me, will have to wait & see how it
looks in the flesh I suppose.

If it is like my 83 CJ8, I might decide to get one. Just have to wait and
see what DC puts out.

Re: Scrambler opinions ?
I hear ya, I saw a picture of what looked like the very base model of the
scrambler. I was not thoroughly impressed. I am hoping to see a rougher
and tougher (Brute) version hit the lot. This will get me going.

Re: Scrambler opinions ?
There's conflicting reports about this, last I read (Automotive News) is
that the project is on for release in Fall of 04 as an 05 model.
Per Automotive News, DC is under pressure to increase the Jeep brand's sales
volume significantly and is exploring development of a super-lux SUVabove
the GC and more niche vehicles, especially TJ derivatives like the Rubicon
and the Scrambler idea.
Unfortunately, to get the sales they're looking for there's the all too
likely chance that DC and their "brand managers" may take Jeep into a lot of
dumbed-down non-Jeep products like the Liberty fiasco. Yeah, I know it's
selling, but it sure ain't a Jeep and the better it and its irs front end do
the worse it can be for Jeep products overall.
