I would use "ground" too, but what would an X drum lathe owner

Always heard "turned" although modern rotors should be milled.
Too often I've seen rotors that look like a spiral was cut into
them by too fast/deep a turning. Some folks don't have enough
time to do it right but more than enough to do it over. :/

slang. A Tool and Die Maker would use your term milled. But they use the
term "ground" when talking about this million dollar machine:
