Before you get to far along, I would make sure the gun will fit where you want
to put it, I was going to do that for my Shotgun, and it did not fit, I was
glad I went for a test fit, BEFORE is started drilling holes.

How about getting a shotgun holder meant for an ATV? They are waterproof and
could be tied to the uprights.
