Repacking and/or Recycling Sealed Wheel Hub/Bearing
What kind of equipment is needed to rebuild the Sealed Wheel
hub/Bearing assemblies for a 1995 Jeep Cherokee Sport(I believe the
bearings are also used in a number of other model years and the Grand
Cherokee models)?
The local part dealer said that there isn't a core return for the
hub/bearing assemblies once they need replacing. At over $160 per
unit new, however, I find it hard to believe that there isn't someone
out there rebuilding them.
Thanks!

Me too! I've put them in VW cars before. They require a lot of force but it can
be done. There's even a set of tools that consist of bolts, spacers and the
like that allow you to put them on with the vw's hub still on the car
eliminating the need to realign the front end. (on a vw when the hub is removed
the alignment is changed)

Re: Repacking and/or Recycling Sealed Wheel Hub/Bearing
lol
Hey Bill that picture looks just like my original pic! 8^o
http://vwdoc1.tripod.com/personal/in..._Hub_Apart.JPG
I think you can find them cheaper than $160. Maybe even around $90.
New ones make that job go much faster and easier!
Rebuilding is doable, but I have not reassembled the one in the
picture.........yet! lol
I would go with synthetic grease BTW.
