Sounds like you got YJ springs that are 2.5" wide.
CJ springs are 2". The springs themselves are slightly narrower than 2"
and the bushings make them 'just' over 2", maybe 2 1/8".
You 'can' change the brackets to put on YJ springs, but you will need to
change the shackles and the axle perches to make them work.
You cannot bend the brackets, it will weaken them too much.

or a cheap fix is to justcut the bushing extra off with a hacksaw blade or
knife.
