I follow that, and even agree to a certain extent. But a Scrambler was
nothing more than a stretched CJ7, so recycling the name wouldn't pose a
problem for me. It would have been a better name than Unlimited, in my
humble opinion.

these days, back in the '70's it signified a hybrid dirt/road bike, and as I
recall one of Jeeps ads from that era had such a bike straped into the bed.

Regardless, "Unlimited" seems to be a name left in the bin after they
settled on the "Rubicon" label for that rig, and, "Unlimited" seeems to
suggest a more robust TJ than the Rubi, which it ain't. Such is the world of
marketing Bovine Scatology!

TJ Scramblers, XJ Scramblers (except they called it the Comanche) ?

Frankly, its a lot better name than the "Cherokee", named after a people
that genocide was attempted on.. probably why DC kept it...

On second thought, 'Longhorn' might not be such a good name. DC tends to

I remember that pic making the headlines - 1992 if I recall. Cut a 6" gash
up to 2" deep.
