You guys are awful sensitive. I swear to Satan I have never even seen a
Rubicon owner less than sixty-five. I wish you all would come up Silverton
so I could convince myself that a young fiftyish guy like me would buy one.
Here's a tip about trolls too. When you react like this it actually makes
it look as if the troll has a case. ;o)

how does the owner affect the merit of the vehicle?

i hope you dont consider jp magazine "lower the wj for better highway
performance"...."the liberty lives up to the jeep name" to be an
authoritative source of information concerning jeeps?!?!?!?

> Not that it's a bad rig out of the box, mind you

"not bad"? what do you call a stock SE? a stock sport? a stock sahara?

assuming equal drivers, stock for stock, what jeep is more capable? what
stock jeep has ever even been EQUALLY capable? im not at all trying to
sound elitist.....to the contrary i despise elitist crap like i sense from
your post. jeep and let jeep.

"real" off roaders cant afford a $30,000 vehicle?

a/c is a "stupid" option?

ok, we agree there. there are places ive avoided simply because im paying
$500 a month for my rubi. that said, i avoided those same places in my '00
sahara. i see videos of people rolling new tjs at moab and instead of
thinking "cool!" i cant help but think "no wonder my goddamn jeep insurance
is so high!"

i dont think i know you, and i really hope that i have misread your
intentions. im just goddamn tired of hearing non-rubicon owners treating me
like i dont have the merit badge because i didnt build my own jeep (although
i built my other one).

I agree with everything that Nathan said here, except the part about not
tackling an obstacle because of my payment. Please understand that I'm not
rich. I manage a restaurant for Pete's sake. I make the same $500 payment as
the rest of the Rubi owners do, but I take mine through rocks that I
shouldn't and up hills that I could roll over on if I don't do it right.
I'll post pictures of my body damage if you don't believe me (or maybe my
flatfenders). Then again, I didn't pay 30K...

Screw Cappa and his magazine. He's got a bug up his rear because of some
argument with a Rubi owner (who probably was a jackass) on Jeeps unlimited
and now he's goin off on everyone in his widely distributed soapbox. Poor
discussion if you ask me... He's going to loose a lot of subscribers to his
little jeep----- rag.

And as far as "veteran jeepers" developing a school of thought... Who cares?
If some old timer won't wheel with me because he didn't get a Jeep wave from
some kid in his Dad's Rubi, that's not the guy I want to wheel with.

Aww, shucks, Earle, just sounds like a bunch of folks with guilty
consciences that's all.

BTW, we'll be in Silverton tomorrow, but think we'll leave the Rubicon home
so's it wont get dirty, When that clay on the road up to Animas Forks gets
wet it takes forever to get it off the Jeep, particularly when it gets on
those RUBICON decals on the hood.

in all fairness, you live in a very upscale neighborhood where "younger"
people are driving h2's and other status symbols anyway arent you?

i realize your reply was not directed towards me, but i havent dismissed the
original poster as a "troll". misguided perhaps, but not trolling.....not
based upon what hes said to this point.
