Re: 93 GC rear axle question
Hi Fletcher,
Your friend's ZJ uses "C" clip Dana 44 with a very weak aluminum
housing: http://www.off-road.com/jeep/tech/axle/d44.html That Dana 44
like the Dana 35c, of course, was assembled by Chrysler, NOT Dana. You
are describing broken spider gears:
http://----------.com/dana35c/35cSpiders.jpg or maybe if it has the
TracLoc, it's additive wasn't added with it's last fluid change.

Re: 93 GC rear axle question
Good to have this resource before I can even see it. If the tracloc
additive was not added at the last change ( I don't know this info yet) has
damage been done? or can it be drained and filled again with additive this
time?

Re: 93 GC rear axle question
Rarely does the lack of slip additive break the spiders, it just
sound like it will. If that is their problem just add the couple ounces.
In the old days we had to go to the Stealership for the limited slip
differential additive, hopefully your local parts store will now carry
it.
