I ran without carpets in my '01 TJ for close to a year before I finally
got around to putting in herculiner. If it got warm down there, I never
noticed it. Any heat emanating from the floorboards would probably be
an improvement in the winter considering the marginal heater used in
this rig.

Anchorage isn't far enough north to lose the sun entirely, but there
have been plenty of days when that didn't really matter since it was
dark when I left the house and dark when I got home, after spending the
rest of the day indoors. The dark bothers some people more than others.
It never really affects me much (I am a grouch year round) but the cold,
on the other hand...

It is slowly but surely warming up here. The main roads are pretty much
clear of frozen stuff and I could probably drive my 2wd pickup again if
I wanted to get it filthy. The Jeep is already filthy and needs a new
windshield so the truck will stay in the driveway (unless I need it)
until everything dries out.

Of course, we could still get nailed in March and possibly into April so
I haven't put the shovel away yet.
