Ratty-Lookin' old carpet Gotta GO ! Bare Naked TJ Asks
Hey People !
My ride is '97 TJ Sahara Ragtop. Still looks OK, but,... That carpet is just TOO ratty looking anymore. I'd like to try just yanking it. No carpet at all fits my idea of a jeep better anyway. I was just about to do it today in prep for a nice couple of hours detailing it when I decided to check to manual. It gave me a big: DON"T DO THAT. Reason; high floor pan temps could burn riders. I wanta ask the group: Is that true ? Should I care or is this a CYA from the Jeep Legal Dept. ? (I sure don't wanna melt my K-Swiss ! - <grin> ) Any feedback appreciated and thanks. Andrew (Wash., D.C. area - some good weather- finally!) |
Re: Ratty-Lookin' old carpet Gotta GO ! Bare Naked TJ Asks
Pull it. I havent had carpet in my 98, since...well, since 98. Just the husky
liners to catch the worst of the muck off of my boots. On Sun, 29 Feb 2004 12:49:34 -0500, reply@grouponly.com wrote: >>Hey People ! >> >> My ride is '97 TJ Sahara Ragtop. >>Still looks OK, but,... I don't know if it is true that you will burn anybody, but I was very
uncomfortable driving barefoot, or with sandles on. I need to use heavy rubber floor mats to be comfortable driving my CJ. <reply@grouponly.com> wrote in message news:gv8440t8tpkdh7dcn6j48bq8tokl0pddf3@4ax.com... > Hey People ! > > My ride is '97 TJ Sahara Ragtop. > Still looks OK, but,... Re: Ratty-Lookin' old carpet Gotta GO ! Bare Naked TJ Asks
I pulled the carpet out of my '98 and my '01. It gets warm around the hump
just under the shifter, but I haven't noticed it being unbearable. My '01 ran without carpet for quite a while, but I have it Rhinolined now. It still gets warm, but not as hot as the bare metal. I'd pull them and get some think rubber floor mats. <reply@grouponly.com> wrote in message news:gv8440t8tpkdh7dcn6j48bq8tokl0pddf3@4ax.com... > Hey People ! > > My ride is '97 TJ Sahara Ragtop. > Still looks OK, but,... Anchorage isn't far enough north to lose the sun entirely, but there have been plenty of days when that didn't really matter since it was dark when I left the house and dark when I got home, after spending the rest of the day indoors. The dark bothers some people more than others. It never really affects me much (I am a grouch year round) but the cold, on the other hand... It is slowly but surely warming up here. The main roads are pretty much clear of frozen stuff and I could probably drive my 2wd pickup again if I wanted to get it filthy. The Jeep is already filthy and needs a new windshield so the truck will stay in the driveway (unless I need it) until everything dries out. Of course, we could still get nailed in March and possibly into April so I haven't put the shovel away yet. ---------------------------------------------------- Del Rawlins- del@_kills_spammers_rawlinsbrothers.org Remove _kills_spammers_ to reply via email. Judging by a couple of winters I spent in Germany, there's no way I
could handle that. Get that Amwa open, gas is above $2.20 here: http://www.fueltracker.com/newmenu/h...ome&title=Home headed for three buck this Summer. I'd like a little taller tire but at the time I just didn't want to open that can of worms on a new vehicle. What I would *like* to do when I upgrade, is install a custom built D44 rear axle with the sensors for my ABS, regear to 4.11, add a Tera 2T or OME lift, and install LT235/85R16 MT/Rs on 16" rims. That will give me about a 32x9.25. A detroit electrac would be nice too. That's some big bucks and it would go a long way towards my airplane project so I have to decide if it is worth it or not. I figure I can get through at least one more winter before I have to make a decision one way or the other. Barring any unforseen changes to my driving routine my current tires won't be worn out at that point but I like to have a little bit of margin in the winter. ---------------------------------------------------- Del Rawlins- del@_kills_spammers_rawlinsbrothers.org Remove _kills_spammers_ to reply via email.
