I'll have to look at the drawings of the pump to be sure I see what
you are talking about, Bill, but I agree about the ***** being OK -
it's usually been a worn spot in the race that caused the problem.
That same place, both directions part is what has me puzzled. Also,
the bind is after the turn has started when you increase it just a
little in the corner. If you hit the tight spot, back off, then try
again it's still there. Wish I could get it to repeat sitting still
so I could a better look at the whole linkage when this happens.

Will, you could be describing a ball joint or tie rod end about to go
really bad on you.
A blown front axle u-joint can make a bind too.
I am thinking this because it only grabs when moving, not sitting.

Will, you could be describing a ball joint or tie rod end about to go

Will, you could be describing a ball joint or tie rod end about to go
really bad on you.
A blown front axle u-joint can make a bind too.
I am thinking this because it only grabs when moving, not sitting.

Re: Power Steering Question
I just had a very similar issue. The Jeep would drive fine but
occasionally would not want to return to center after a corner or want
to turn at all. Found out that both of my axle U-Joints were frozen
solid. So solid that my 250 lb buddy could not even get them to bend.
I am really lucky the yokes did not break. I would suggest looking at
your u-joints first.

occasionally would not want to return to center after a corner or want
to turn at all. Found out that both of my axle U-Joints were frozen
solid. So solid that my 250 lb buddy could not even get them to bend.
I am really lucky the yokes did not break. I would suggest looking at
your u-joints first.
