Power Steering Pumps
My wife's 5.9 ZJ power steering pump exploded yesterday leaving the
serpentine belt somewhere behind us on the expressway and coating the engine
bay with power steering fluid. Does anybody know if it is possible to swap
the pump out of my '02 TJ 4.0 and put it in the ZJ? The ZJ is at a distant
garage right now so I can't even eyeball them side-by-side.

Re: Power Steering Pumps
Hi Peter,
More than likely the pumps are the same. but clocked differently
with different hose fittings and maybe a special reservoir to fit in
around your V8. You could pick up a rebuilt and take it down there, but
if it were my shop. I'd stick it to your twice, when you begged for the
pulley puller. Plus, I believe there may be nothing wrong with your
pump, as when the sheering is turned without the belt turning the pump
the fluid will pop the top and blow the fluid out normally.
