Power Steering High pressure hose
I just put a 304 (which had the power steering pump attached) into my 85 cj7
that originally had a 258. It appears that the power steering high pressure hose will not fit into the pump on the 304. Is there a difference between these pumps from a 304 and a 258? Or do I possibly have a pump from another motor? -- _____________________ HomeBrewer 85CJ7 (in Progress) http://85cj7.blogspot.com/ 99XJ Sport Remove the xxx to reply! |
Re: Power Steering High pressure hose
You would want the pump for your Jeep, not the engine's one no matter
what steering setup it's for. Your CJ7 uses a Saganaw steering setup. Re: Power Steering High pressure hose
Depending on year(s) one could be O-ring vs. flare fitting on the other.
The fitting on the back of the pump can be easily changed to match the gear box. -- JimG 80' CJ-7 258 CID, HEI 4.56 Gears, Lock-Right F&R 35" BFG MT on 15x10 Centerlines D44 Rear, D30 Front. Re: Power Steering High pressure hose
Just came to mind... If you still have the 258 pump, just swap the big
fittings (it's like a 1' or 1 1/4" wrench) on the pumps. JimG |
