Well, since my dog doesn't seem to have the "fetch" gene, I'm not that sure
he couldn't be replaced... He does have the "forging" gene though --
unfortunately -- but running the leash underneath his chest and back through
the snap hook fixes that... Mostly, he has a high concentration of the
"smile at me and I'm your's" gene -- no loyalty whatsoever... Half German
Shepherd, half St. Benard -- big, friendly, lazy, and dumb...

Re: the reported bear attack

Soooooo you have problem with German-Swiss half breeds?

Is the half that is Swiss 'french-swiss'?

Re: the reported bear attack

I'm not saying this to sound gross, but every WILD animal kill I've ever
seen the animal was eaten from the anus first, if it was indeed a WILD
animal that killed it.

There are feral dogs in WV in and around our hunt camp. We have started
going armed all the time, even in the off hunting season. If you see just
one, they stay their distance and watch. Two or more, and they'll attack
humans, deer, whatever. They are no match for a .45. These are a mix of
beagle, blue heeler, and whatever else they manage to mate with, and average
around 60 lbs. I can't say how they eat a kill, because I haven't seen it
from the start. We've had a feral dog problem around 10-11 years.

I have seen Black Bear, Coyotes and Bobcats in action, as well as Foxes.
They are all ruining my Turkey hunting. I saw a Black Bear kill and start to
eat a milk cow in 1999. Then I saw him dropped within 20ft. with a single
arrow from a compound bow.

Incidentally, I arrive at the hunt camp in my '92 Jeep Wrangler Hardtop
Automatic.
