Ping: DougW (OT Computer Stuff)
Hey Doug, you're in the 'puter field aren't you?
I have some high end server and storage equipment (cisco, extreme, qualstar) that I know nothing about and have been asked to sell. I have the bill of sale for most of the equipment but I doubt the 3 yr old "Extreme Alpine Mid-Range High-Speed Backbone System" will fetch anywhere near the $40K new price. Do you know of any websites (besides eBay) that sells used equipment so I can get a rough idea of what this stuff is worth? -Brian |

Depreciation rate for computer stuff is about 20%-33%/year or your $40k is now about $20k http://www.genesisglobalinc.com/ (request a quote on-line) http://www.bizinetworks.com (you have to call for a quotes but they also buy used equipment) http://www.usedrouter.com has prices but mostly Cisco Third party reseller http://www.andovercg.com/ (no experience with them) But you know any third party sales is like taking a car to a used car lot. Your not going to get the $ from a personal sale. There is no one bellybutton for price data, mebby http://pricewatch.com ? The stuff we buy comes from http://gsaadvantage.gov and the used bits go to DRMO (government auction and recycling yard) Hope some of this helps. -- DougW |
