Re: OT newsreader questions

I use Thunderbird (the email client that goes with Firefox), for both
email and newsgroups and it works fine for regular newsgroups.

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/thunderbird/

If you get into binary newsgroups with big files you will want something
like Agent.

I have always used outlook express through my high speed internet provider.
Never had any problems, and the interface is very user friendly.

Re: OT newsreader questions

I use OE too.
Loads of people dislike it, but I have tried a gob of others and prefer the
way it handles my email and newsgroups in one tight little package.
It's easy to filter unwanted messages, and that's a good thing! Oh AND... it
plays well with AV software too.

You may want to look at everything you have seen offered, and then make your
choice based on your personal requirements.

OUTLOOK and Outlook Express, are two COMPLETELY different animals.
I don't much like Outlook either but OE is the news handler if you are using
Outlook.

I'm no hippie but I try to keep my use of Microsoft products to a
minimum, and Firefox/Thunderbird really does work well.

There is also a great alternative to Office, Open Office. It is
compatible with MS office, but it has two big advantages, it's not a MS
product and the price is right, FREE!

I've been living work-free for eleven years thanks to people who buy
Microsoft products. I guess it would be ungrateful not to use them too.

Outlook is a completely different animal from Outlook Express. It doesn't
even read news. When I was at Microsoft, everyone was using Outlook
Express. I could never figure why Outlook exists.

I've been living work-free for eleven years thanks to people who buy
Microsoft products. I guess it would be ungrateful not to use them too.

even read news. When I was at Microsoft, everyone was using Outlook
Express. I could never figure why Outlook exists.
