OT: Merry Christmas Reflector mail??
So how did all of our "Merry Christmas" posts get into that
"de.alt.test,bit.listserv.test" newsgroup and why did I get a "reflector email" response? Tom |
Re: OT: Merry Christmas Reflector mail??
Those were crossposted all over the place. I saw them on several
newsgroups but only got hit here. I got the reflector and a set of spams for confirming online banking and paypal accounts. I have neither. You, like lots of others got nailed by a shitstain called hipcrime/dippy. It is trying to flood news.admin.net-abuse.email and failed. So it posted tons of ---- through open relays. Each one forging some users nym and email address and all setting a follow-up to nanas. Your getting a reflector because you used a valid email address and that is what the test groups do. Back in olden days news servers would respond back using your email address saying "Got it at $time $date $from". Now days most do not because of abuse. If you see these on groups you frequent, please let the folks there know what's going on. -- DougW |

Like I do, you should change your accounts settings if you use outlook
express and put in a fake email address. That way there is no spam sent to you. If someone here wants your email address they can ask for it or give theirs to you. "L.W. Re: OT: Merry Christmas Reflector mail??
Come on Bill. I recently changed my ISP because I was getting 30 to 40 spams
a day! It has NOTHING to do with being a wimp. I think I was getting a lot of spam because I was using my "real" email address for posts, registrations, etc. I now use a "disposable" free email address for newsgroup posts, registrations, etc. It's still a "real" address, but if I start getting a lot of spams again, I can just change it. I was getting 4 mb per HOUR when the Sven virus hit. It had died down to
only 1 mb an hour after a month or so. No more valid addresses. :( mabar wrote: > Come on Bill. I recently changed my ISP because I was getting 30 to 40 spams > a day! And what do cookies have to do with some jerk reading this NG (and
entering mine and all the others into his recent e-mail list) and then opening the offending virus? And what is the relationship between an e-mail address if it is not ENTERED at any site? Quit making glib remarks on subject you have no knowledge of.
