It was a PV544 type, with the engine (B18?) out of a 122S. I got it for
free from a hippie who lived in Virginia who had had some problems with it.
After I took a few things apart I found out that the lower radiator hose
fitting was on the wrong side, and that someone had assembled the synchros
in the wrong order, and that they were chewed up as a result. Damn those
synchros were expensive. It's a good thing I worked for a Volvo dealer at
the time. (Clarke Motors in Winchester, VA--Dodge, IH, Volvo, I worked on
the IH and Dodge Trucks.) I took care of the lower radiator hose by
replacing it with a three foot section of one inch heater hose looped over
the top of the engine. Once I had it filled with coolant it worked by
syphon effect. The car actually ran quite well. I still don't know why I
got rid of it, except I have this disorder that makes me want to buy cars
all the time. The longest I ever owned a car before the Wrangler was a
Dodge A100 I had for eleven years.

Re: OT- Carfax Request for 1990 Volvo
As long as it isn't that nasty PRV v6.
I think the PRV "blessed" the 260, 760, and 860. The CFI is both a bugger
to work on, and a bugger to pay for parts... not to mention the
cams/followers take a bow at about 80K. Basically a junk motor from my
unhappy experience, Though not in volvos... still the same motor.
