What Koppel said was that "[freedom of speech] is of real value only
because it guarantees us access to the unpopular espousing the
unacceptable," In other words, freedom of speech allows the bad guys
to talk. It is grossly unfair to characterize Koppel as supporting
murder of children.
Another way to look at it: Basayev (the bad guy) is undoubtedly a
---------, but how do we know that for sure? Take the Russians' word
for it, or interview the guy? I think that ABC did the right thing.
