With only a few websites that still annoy folks with unsolicited
popups, and even fewer web authors with brains or manners putting
"important" information in an unsolicited popup, the amount
of such information that is really useful is questionable and
thank goodness, declining. This is not the same thing as
on-demand popups such as those used by Car Connection, etc.
to zoom images.
Or a real web browser could be used that puts up a discrete
flag when a website attempts to set a popup. The user can
then allow the popup for one time, and then after discovering
that as usual, it was just another annoying advertisement,
allow the browser to continue to suppress the rude pieces of
crap. Or for the extremely rare website where viewing the
!@#!@$!@$ popups is desired, click and set the flag allowing
that particular site or domain to use the blankity blank
idiotic things.

thats just it.....i used a pop up blocker once and i couldnt even view the
bigger images of the vehicles at autotrader.com because they open up in a
javascript pop up. thats just one example. i dont bother with the pop up
blockers because they dont know the difference, and i just avoid sites (as
best as i can anyway) that use advertisement popups.
