OBD II tool

I'm looking for an OBD-II scan tool for use on my Jeep Liberty and
also my Ford motor home. I want one that uses my laptop as the scanner.
There seem to be a bunch of them out there and the prices are all over
the map. Does anyone use any of this software/hardware and anyone have
any recommendations.
TIA

Do you mean OBD-III? My '97 has OBD-III.
Harbor Freight has a standalone for $40 for OBD-II.

I have an older BR-2 model that has been great. Looks like the price
has gone up quite a bit though. But it works on just about all
manufacturer's cars. Watch out on many of the cheaper units, they are
frequently brand specific. Not a problem if all you own are the same
make, but otherwise not very useful.

We have a local speed shop that can do more than a Dealer can do with their
setup. I had all my vehicles re-flashed for power and the mechanic showed
me what their equipment was capable of doing. They also explained that the
laws in some states will not allow modifications to the OBC. In Maryland
just about anything goes as long as you pass the pollution test and you do
not monkey with the speedometer then it needs to be recorded and sent to the
DMV. But, like most everything else what they don't know won't hurt you
only if you get caught.
