NV 1500 5sp. lube
Hi all,
I have a '04 Wrangler with a NV 1500 5sp. transmission. I want
to change the gear lube/oil, but what does it take? I've been told
that it's only available through the dealer, but then the dealer didn't
have any and wasn't sure that's what it took. I want to drain and refill
with a good synthetic...something.

Re: NV 1500 5sp. lube
Hi Tom,
From what I can find, the lubricate is an 5W-30 engine oil with a
special friction modifier for their sychros. But many have written of
the New Venture 1500 to 3500 breaking in between swifts at stop lights
requiring complete disassembly to repair. I wouldn't chance it, let the
stealership put the wrong oil in.
