Re: Now, That's a Real Jeep

Yeah, he wants to get $10K for it ($30,000 "invested", you can get it
for a third of that. Right.

I wonder if the owner had skipped the oil temp gauge and bought his wife
some flowers instead if he'd have to be selling it now. (I learned long
ago that random gifts of flowers for no reason at all is a pretty good
way to stay out of divorce court.)

Ghood ghod is that one ugly beast. Some sheet metal schemes are
improved by poking the top of the engine up through the hood. The
Commando isn't one of them.

I actually think it looks pretty cool, would rather see the rear end
lowered a bit though.

Re: Now, That's a Real Jeep

The Willys MT-TUG is at $47K and the reserve still is not met. I wonder
how high it will go -- poking around the Web it looks like there's only
4 of the original 15 known to exist, so it has real attraction for the
collector. I don't think it looks too bad for original (the description
says some of the original tires are still in place), unrestored condition.

I wonder what a WWII-era Willys T-28 halftrack would fetch?

The Commando is at $4K and hasn't met the reserve either. He's never
going to see all of his money come back.

Didn't realise that they were that rare. One of them was at the War and
Peace show in 2002 - dunno if it lives here or was just visiting.
Guess I didn't appreciate it as fully as I should have done.
