Ripoff or what? You decide.
Why all the fuss over the new Wrangler Unlimited? AMC did the same thing
over 25 years ago and called it the CJ6. I can see Chrysler's point, though.
Why spend money on engineering innovation when we can just resurrect (steal)
good ideas from someone else?

1. Willys introduced the CJ-6, not AMC. AMC built the CJ-8.

2. Chrysler bought out AMC, which bought out Kaiser, which bought the model
designations, designs, the name "Jeep", etc. from from Willys.

Where's the ripoff?

1. Willys introduced the CJ-6, not AMC. AMC built the CJ-8.

2. Chrysler bought out AMC, which bought out Kaiser, which bought the model
designations, designs, the name "Jeep", etc. from from Willys.

the rip-off is of the concept of what a jeep is, and what a jeep is for.
All the manufacturers you mentioned kept jeep true to its purpose and
essence. Krysler has never understood jeepdom and jeep owners, and the
liberty is exhibit A and B and C and on and on. AMC evolved jeep into its
finest incarnation. and on many levels. krysler has stopped that evolution
and has screwed up the lineage apparently forever. too bad. jeep is now a
foreign "car"

All the manufacturers you mentioned kept jeep true to its purpose and
essence. Krysler has never understood jeepdom and jeep owners, and the

Dieter will bring out a new Grand Cherokee for '05, some rumors have
them stretching it and give it another seat, well, I got news for them
it's the Libby, and the WJ will go the way of the classic XJ, and the
rest of the Js.
