The only difference is the transistorized brain box. The two throat
and manifolds will have the same ports to operate the same type of SMOG

You know here in San Diego, the year '75 and older is not SMOGed
every other year nor on transfer, right? Technically the engine is, buy
I've never of it being enforced. Except, California's got a suit on
Florida maker of Seventy thousand dollar "'66" Shelby AC Cobra kit cars.

My Californicator friends tell me that this can be gotten around by
using an engine that has a "service replacement block" or one with no
factory VIN, such as one from a non-automotive application. Some
engines can be made into a "SRB" with skillful application of a die
grinder, not that I would advocate that of course. Detroit Diesels
have the name plate on the rocker box cover, which gets lost a lot
when you have it chromed. (Not that any Jeep vehicle would be a
suitable for a screamer-I don't think a Grand Wagoneer could handle a
3-53 or 4-53.)
